As Jaya Bacchan turns 73 today

Jabalpur-based, Bengali-speaking Indira and Tarun Kumar Bhaduri were blessed with a child they named Jaya 73 years ago on this day.

Her acting career started when she was 15 in a Bengali film Mahanagar. She became an actress in her own right in Bollywood after the release of Guddi.
She went on to star in many Hindi language films, including blockbusters like Jawani Diwani, Uphaar, Anamika, Abhimaan, Sholay, Bawarchi, Chupke Chupke Zanjeer just to name a few.
Her acting spanned from 1963 to 1981. She also wrote the script of Shahenshah.

For anyone who was born in the last three decades, Jaya Bachchan is the filmy mother who is ready with a puja ki thali when her son is in the vicinity. While that’s a quintessential Hindi film moment, Jaya Bachchan wasn’t always the quintessential filmy heroine.
Amitabh Bachchan wrote a heartfelt tweet on Jaya Bachchan’s birthday, thanking everyone “for remembering her” and sending their warm wishes. Amitabh Bachchan shared an adorable picture of themselves on his Twitter profile and wrote, “To them who have wished Jaya on her birthday today, my gratitude and love. Thank you for remembering her. It will be impossible to respond to each of you individually, hence this.
