A woman has been arrested for allegedly smashing her son’s head with a grindstone and roasting his body with spices and camphor in Salt Lake area of West Bengal.
A woman in West Bengal was arrested for allegedly smashing her son’s head with a grindstone and roasting his body with spices and camphor. The woman, identified as Geeta Mahensaria, killed her son Arjun, 25, burnt her body with spices and ghee before dumping his skeleton on their terrace.
The cops found the details of the murder when they were investigating a missing complaint filed by Anil Mahensaria, Geeta’s estranged husband. In his complaint, Anil had said that he had not been able to contact Arjun for a while.
On Thursday, police discovered the skeletal remains of Arjun from the two-storey house in Salt Lake. Police also found a blood-stained grindstone, a big kadhai and burn marks in the prayer room.
During interrogation, Geeta confessed that she did put Arjun’s body in the kadhai and added ghee, camphor and spices to camouflage the smell of the flesh. She has, however, denied killed Arjun.
Arjun’s father Anil told TOI that when he could not contact Arjun, he suspected he had died in a tantric sacrifice by Geeta. Geeta and her younger son, Vidur (22), were arrested on Thursday.
“She had started practising tantra, which soured our relationship. I left the house in 2019. My elder son suffered from multiple ailments related to heart, food pipe and neurological disorder. I suspect she must have practised some tantra and sacrificed him,” Anil was quoted as saying by TOI.
A case has been registered under sections IPC 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention). “We have asked the daughter, Vaidehi, to appear before us. We have to question her,” he said.
