Most parts of interior Odisha came under the grip of a cold wave on Sunday with a further fall in night temperature. The night temperature fell below 10 degrees Celsius in Sonepur and Kandhamal districts on Tuesday.
Odisha continued to reel under the cold wave as the temperature remained below 15 degrees Celsius at 11 places across the state. Most parts of interior Odisha came under the grip of a cold wave on Sunday with a further fall in night temperature.
The night temperature fell below 10 degrees Celsius in Sonepur and Kandhamal districts on Tuesday. As many as six places braved the cold weather with minimum temperatures hovering below 12-degree Celsius.
As per the temperature recorded by the regional meteorological centre, the minimum temperature recorded till 5.30 am on Tuesday was lowest in Sonepur at 9.4 degree Celsius while Daringbadi recorded 9.6-degree Celsius.
Besides, the temperature remained under 15-degree Celsius in Angul (11), Jharsuguda (13.4), Keonjhar (14.4), Talcher (13.5), Bhawanipatna (11.4), Koraput (11.2), Phulbani (10) and Malkangiri (14.5).
The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack also recorded 16 and 16.3-degree Celsius respectively.
As per the IMD forecast, there will be no large change in the minimum night temperature during the next two-three days.
Habibur Rahman Biswas (Director, Regional Meteorological Centre) told India Today, “There will be a slight rise in the night temperature in the state due to light rainfall in some parts of south coastal districts for two days on November 12 and 13.”
“An appreciable fall in the night temperature would be experienced from November 14 by 3-5 degree Celsius at many places over the interior districts and by 2-3 degree Celsius at many places over the coastal districts,” Biswas added.
