Delhi Police said the owner of the Land Cruiser, a businessman by the name of Surendra who is a resident of south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri area, has been taken into custody.

Two people died and another suffered critical injuries after a speeding Land Cruiser crashed into an autorickshaw in south Delhi on Sunday. The horrific accident took place around 11 pm on the Chirag Delhi flyover.
There were two passengers inside the autorickshaw apart from the driver at the time of the accident. All three suffered critical injuries and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital.
Aged 35, the autorickshaw driver Vinod succumbed to injuries on Sunday night.
One of the passengers identified as Pankaj, was taken to AIIMS-Delhi where he died during treatment in the early hours of Monday.
The second passenger in the autorickshaw, Arjun Sahu (45) is battling for his life.
According to Delhi Police, the Land Cruiser in question belongs to one Surendra, a businessman who lives in south Delhi’s Fatehpur Beri area. Police have arrested the accused and seized the Land Cruiser.
A similar incident was reported from Delhi’s Badarpur area in September of this year where an SUV mowed down a cyclist. The victim, a 38-year-old factory worker was cycling on the Faridabad-Delhi Skyway when he was fatally mowed down by a Range Rover.
The owner of the vehicle in question, 28-year-old Sonit Jain had rushed the cyclist to a hospital but later fled. He was identified with the use of CCTV cameras and arrested on charges of hit-and-run.
