Rebel TMC MLA Mihir Goswami, who flew to New Delhi with BJP MP Nisith Pramanik in the morning, has joined BJP. He had resigned from TMC in the morning.
Disgruntled TMC MLA Mihir Goswami on Friday joined Bharatiya Janata Party, hours after he resigned from the primary membership of the Bengal’s ruling party.
“Mihir Goswami joins BJP in presence of senior party leaders at BJP headquarters in New Delhi,” BJP’s official handle tweeted on Friday evening.
The reports of Mihiri Goswami’s pending induction in the BJP were making rounds ever since he left for Delhi with BJP MP Nisith Pramanik on Friday morning. After reaching Delhi, the TMC MLA told reporters that he had already sent his resignation to TMC supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
“I was humiliated time and again. Despite informing the party about it, it did nothing to address my woes. It seems the leadership has lost control over the party. It was not possible for me to continue with this humiliation. So I resigned from the primary membership of the party. Nishith is speaking to the BJP leadership. If everything goes fine, I might join the BJP,” Mihir Goswami said in the morning.
A few hours later, BJP MP Saumitra Khan confirmed that Mihir Goswami was going to join the saffron camp. “We thank Mihir da for his decision to join BJP. He is expected to join us within an hour,” Saumitra Khan told news agency ANI on Friday afternoon.
A member of the Trinamool Congress since the party’s inception in 1998, a disgruntled Mihir Goswami had been sulking over his treatment by TMC.
The rebel TMC lawmaker had met BJP MP Nisith Parmanik last month fuelling speculation over his possible exit from the party.
