Q:

A herd of dinosaurs made paintings in the sand with their claws.Each baby dinosaur made 15151515 paintings and each adult dinosaur made 7777 paintings. The entire herd made 208208208208 paintings in total, and there were 3333 times as many baby dinosaurs as adult dinosaurs.How many baby dinosaurs and adult dinosaurs were there?

Accepted Solution

A:

baby Dino = 15 paintings
Adult Dino = 7 paintings
Entire herd = 208 paintings

//Defining of Variables:
A = no. Of Adult
B = no. Of Baby

This is a simultaneous question so we’ll have to make up some equations.

3B = A —— (1)
This means there is 3x as many baby Dino as adult Dino

15B + 7A = 208 —— (2)
This means 15 paintings being painted by B number of babies + 7 paintings being painted by A number of Adults is 208 paintings.

Those are the equations we set.
Since we know A = 3B,

We can substitute A = 3B into (2).
As such:

15B + 7A = 208
15B + 7(3B) = 208
15B + 21B = 208
36B = 208.

We did that so that we only have 1 unknown variable so that we can calculate what is the value of a unknown variable, which in this case, is B.
If we furthur solve that equation above,

36B = 208
B = 5.777777777 ????

The reason why I was left with 5.77777777 amount of baby dinosaurs is because I didn’t know the value of the variables correctly as you didn’t state it clearly.

However, I’ve done the concept behind this question and I hope it helps you :)

If you would like me to solve it, could you please give me the values of the variables clearly?

Thanks, and have a good day ahead!
