KOLKATA: The New Town Kolkata Development Authority (NKDA) on Monday inaugurated a smart bicycle stand on the opposite flank of Nazrul Tirtha in New Town, a first of its kind in the city. The bicycle stand has been set up specially keeping in mind of those who come from the neighbouring villages and keep their bicycles at the place unguarded before going to their workplaces.
There are arrangements to park 70 bicycles in the stand under a shed with a docking system. There will be CCTV monitoring, a mobile phone charger, an e-cycle charger and also two LCD screens to display the distance of some prominent spots from the stand. There will also be two security guards at the place to keep a watch.
NKDA recently re-introduced the public bicycle sharing scheme in the township with 100 App based cycles hitting the streets.
