PV Sindhu put up an extremely dominant display on Thursday as she moved into the quarter-finals of All England Championships with a straight games win over Denmark’s Line Christophersen. Sindhu demolished the Dane 21-8, 21-8 in merely 25 minutes to win her second round match. Christophersen was absolutely no match for the Indian as Sindhu blazed through into the next round.
Sindhu will need all her expertise on Friday when she gets a tough test in the last eight against Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi got a walkover from her opponent on Thursday and will come fresh to the quarters.
India’s top men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty failed to make the quarter-finals after an edgy loss to Danish pair Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen.
The sixth seeds lost 16-21, 21-11, 17-21 in an hour and three minutes. Even though Satwik-Chirag had a good game plan and took the initiative very well in the match but a few nervy errors towards the end cost them.
