Kolkata: 12.01.2021. “Unstoppable Women’s Synthesis Committee’’, better known as Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee (DMSC) is a body which represents the interests of sex workers of Sonagachi, the largest red-light zone of Kolkata. Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee is fighting relentlessly to have social justice as well as legal justice to consider the prostitution as legal work and sex workers should get social and legal acceptance as normal working community.
Their children should get social acceptance and should not be considered as untouchables.
Passion8 Photography, well known Facebook Photography group organized a social event for the poor and neglected women and children of Sonagachi on 11th this month and Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee extended full support and cooperation to Team Passion8 . The Admin Team of Passion8 and some of the group members spent some quality time with the poor women and children of this area. The photography group distributed sanitary napkins to women and girls of this area to make them aware of maintaining proper hygiene by using sanitary pads. They also distributed groceries and books and stationery to the poor and neglected children of this infamous area of Kolkata.
Although Ms. Balaka Gangulydeb, founder member and Admin of Passion8 Photography could not attend the event her dream project of doing something for the underprivileged section of Sonagachi was organized by other admins and group members such as Mr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Mr. Subrata Paul, Mr. Dip Das, Mrs, Gopa Das, Ms. Sri Happy S Widjaya, Mr. Samir Dutta, Mr. Babai Bid, Mr. Rahibul Sekh, Mr. Mainak Ghosh, Mr. Hirak Bhattacharjee, Mr. Rajarshi Banerjee, Mr. Sunando Das Gupta, Mr. Santanu Dey, Ms. Mahua Sarkar, Ms. Saumi Biswas, and Ms. Rupa Ghosh.
Ms. Mahasweta Mukherjee of Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee expressed her deep appreciation and presented a memento to Team Passion8 Photography on behalf of DMSC.
