BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s comments that his party would conduct a “surgical strike” in Hyderabad have triggered a controversy with the ruling TRS and AIMIM slamming the Telangana BJP chief.
BJP’s Telangana unit president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s comments that his party would conduct a “surgical strike” has drawn sharp criticism from the ruling TRS and AIMIM.
The political row followed after Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s said at a rally that the BJP will conduct a “surgical strike” in the old city part of Hyderabad to chase away Rohingyas and Pakistanis after it wins the post of Mayor in the civic polls
“Unsure of winning, he [Rao] has taken another person on his side. Who is he? Owaisi. Owaisi was saying yesterday… if Rohingyas are there in Hyderabad, what is Amit Shah doing? After BJP Mayoral candidate wins in this election, BJP will take the responsibility to send away Rohingyas and Pakistanis by conducting a surgical strike on your old city,” Bandi Sanjay Kumar said.
Ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation poll on December 1, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said on Tuesday that elections should be held in the city without the presence of Rohingyas, Pakistanis and Afghanistanis as voters.
Those trying to win elections with Muslim votes, indulging in appeasement of minorities, claim to be secularists, and the BJP, which supports respecting the sentiments of 80 per cent of Hindus, is dubbed as communal, said Kumar, known for his strong Hindutva views.
Has this person gone completely insane for a few votes, asks KTR
The comments of the Telangana BJP leader drew sharp criticism from TRS working president K T Rama Rao. TRS working president and son of CM KCR, KTR said: “What is this comment. Is Hyderabad in Pakistan? Have you lost mind?” as he asked if Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy would condone the “reprehensible” and “hate-filled” statements of his party colleague.
AIMIM’s Asaddudin Owaisi hits back
AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaddudin Owaisi hit back and dared the BJP-led NDA government to conduct surgical strikes on Chinese PLA which “occupied Indian Territory.”
Addressing a public meeting, Asaddudin Owaisi said, “These people [old city residents] are citizens of India. I want to tell the BJP whoever gave that statement, I want to tell the Prime Minister, Chinas PLA has encroached our land in Ladakh. Mr Modi would you not conduct surgical strikes on Chinese who occupied our land.”
Owaisi further alleged that BJPs intention was to create enmity among people. But, they will not succeed in their intentions, Owaisi said.
Fall of AIMIM after GHMC election: BJP
The war of words, however, did not end here. The BJP said if the mandate is in their favour in the GHMC elections, Hyderabad will regain its real name Bhagyanagar.
The fall of AIMIM will begin after GHMC election, the BJP said.
“Another surgical strike is the need of the hour to flush out illegal migrants as the situation in the old city became grim with illegal migrants,” said BJP leader NV Subhash.
