New Hopes New Visions

This is how the CBSE Class 10th marks will be calculated

Ministry of Education has cancelled the CBSE 10th exam 2021 amid the rise in the COVID-19 cases. Students of CBSE Class 10th will be promoted on the basis of an objective criterion which is to be developed by the Board, said Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’.

The decision has been taken in a high-level meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other government officials.

Many other states are also in the process of postponing or cancelling the Class 10 and 12 board exams in the wake of the rising number of COVID-19 cases.

As per the notice, “The Board Exams for Class Xth to be held from 4th May to June 14th, 2021, are hereby cancelled. The results of Class Xth Board will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated to him/ her on this basis will be given an opportunity to sit in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams."

Students who are not satisfied with the allotted marks will get an opportunity to sit in the exam. For this, the board will release the exam dates later. Students need to check the official website – cbse.nic.in – to get the latest news and updates on CBSE Class 10 and 12 exams.

Last year, the board evaluated student’s performance based on the exams conducted in March 2020. Students who have completed all the CBSE 10th class exams got the results based on their performance in the exams. However, students who appeared for more than three exams got results based on the average of the best three subjects.

This year, no theory exam is conducted by the board. However, practicals were started on March 1, 2021. Now, students are waiting for the new CBSE assessment scheme 2021. The marks will be calculated as per this new scheme.

For CBSE board Class 12 exams, the notice from MHRD says, “The situation will be reviewed on June 1, 2021, by the Board, and details will be shared accordingly. A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations.” Earlier, CBSE Class 12 exam 2021 were to be held from May 4 to June 14, 2021.
